This educational activity is supported by an educational grant from GlaxoSmithKline.DATE OF RELEASE/EXPIRATION
This activity was released on November 22, 2022 and is valid until May 22, 2023. Requests for credit must be made no later than May 22, 2023.TARGET AUDIENCE
The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, OB/GYNs, pathologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, oncology nurses, and other HCPs involved in the care of patients with endometrial cancer.STATEMENT OF NEED/PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The treatment landscape for endometrial cancer is evolving, with increasing use of histology/molecular testing-based treatment approaches that differentiate tumors with or without microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) and mismatch repair deficiency (dMMR). For therapies to be effective, clinicians must identify those patients most likely to benefit from a specific treatment and select the option best suited to each individual patient. To ensure that all patients with endometrial cancer benefit equitably from these treatment advances, it is crucial that barriers to care be addressed appropriately.
In this activity, Dr. Gottfried Konecny will analyze the latest clinical evidence on treatment options for recurrent endometrial cancer. Dr. Konecny will review strategies for personalizing treatment selection with biomarker testing and explore approaches for sequencing therapy and minimizing adverse events. Factors that lead to disparities in treatment will be discussed and strategies to minimize those inequities and improve patient outcomes and quality of life will be presented.EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:- Discuss strategies to reduce disparities in care and improve patient QoL
- Evaluate the relevance of histology and molecular testing to facilitate treatment decision‐ making for second‐line treatment of patients with endometrial cancer
- Assess clinical‐trial evidence on new and practice‐changing therapies for the management of recurrent endometrial cancer
- Evaluate strategies to monitor treatment‐emergent adverse events associated with current and emerging treatment regimens
